Project's Challenge

Recovering a supplier's barge that had capsized onto a creek bank on New Jersey's Rancocas River while transporting a 720-tonne, 84-meter bridge section. The customer's initial conclusion was that the bridge was a total loss and would have to be refabricated, resulting in a critical cost and schedule impact.

Solution

Rigging International's team of engineers and field personnel designed and devised a scheme that utilized winches, jacks and ballasting to secure the bridge section, right the barge and recover the entire structure. Upon successful conclusion of this operation, the structure was repaired and installed.

The bridge was repaired on site and the client realized cost and schedule savings approximately $50,000,000.
