Project Description
Two (2) Star Iron and Steel and one (1) Paceco container cranes were modified at Horizon Lines' Sand Island facility in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Paceco container handling crane was taken out of position prior to its modification and returned to its original position upon completion of the modification. The two Star Iron and Steel cranes were modified in position.
Using Rigging International’s custom container crane jacking system, all three cranes were raised 21 feet 1½ inches. In addition, existing ladders were modified to accommodate the additional height; flood lights and access lighting were upgraded; two new elevators were installed and one elevator was modified for the increased travel length; and the three cranes were commissioned and certified upon completion of the refurbishment and all modifications.
